The Nichols Area Historical Society is a group of residents interested in collecting stories and artifacts from the history of the Nichols area.
Is going to Nichols for any reason not a problem or inconvenience? Then you are in the Nichols Area.
We have newsletters twice a year, with stories about life in our area. There is also a spring event, held on a Saturday in April, with a theme and we can display appropriate items at these events.
We are willing to have more events, but we would need more active members to plan and host the events.
Our meetings are held almost monthly, on the second Thursday of each month at six thirty at the Nichols Community Center. The months we usually do not have meetings are June, July, and December.
If you would like to donate items to the historical society, you would need to speak with a member of our board of directors. If there is a picture or item you are not sure about donating to us, you can loan it to us so we can make a copy of the pictures for our records, and we will return the original. We would also like to have a name (or several names) for the person (or people) in the picture and stories about them to go with them.
Besides the Historical Society themselves, we are also able to help some people who are working on their family trees. I know I’ve been able to borrow items to scan and place on my family tree on Ancestry. I have also had someone ask about getting copies of articles a relative wrote for the newsletter.
